The Sweetpea Slumber Program
For little ones aged 4-11 months with fast-to-adapt temperaments
Your little one is 4-11 months old
Your child needs a dependent sleep prop in order to go to sleep (for example, feeding or rocking to sleep)
You're waking up multiple times a night to help your little one go back to sleep, meaning you're EXTREMELY exhausted
Your child takes very short naps, or refuses to nap altogether
You're looking for a solution to solve your sleep struggles and finally wake up feeling refreshed in the morning
You want a sleep program that gives you advice depending on your child's age AND temperament, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach
It does not - The sleep training method recommended uses a gentle approach, where you will be nearby to guide and comfort your child when needed, especially the first few nights. I do recommend more of a "hands-off" approach for perceptive little ones, although it's still much gentler than the cry-it-out method. In this case, you will still find an option for a very gentle method to accommodate every family's comfort levels.
I cannot promise your child won't cry a little, as this is their way of communicating their protest to the changes being made. Having said that, our aim is to teach them to self soothe with as little tears as possible. However, if you are against any amount of crying, this program might not be for you.
I learned this the hard way - A one-size-fits-all approach just doesn't work. This program focuses not only on your child's age but also on their temperament. A method that works for an energetic child will likely not work on a persistent child. The program is also easy to follow while providing a great amount of information, ensuring your questions throughout your journey are covered.
This will highly depend on your little one's character and temperament and your own commitment to the whole process. You should start seeing progress within the first few days, and the average duration for children to get the hang of self-soothing and start sleeping through the night is two weeks. Although, some families have told me their child started sleeping through after three days, while for others, it took a little longer than the average. As long as you persevere and follow the steps in The Slumber Program, you should start seeing significant progress in the first few days.
